Are You Afraid of the Dentist?
As comfortable as we try to make our patients there are always those that just fear the dental chair.
What is Sedation Dentistry?
Sedation Dentistry ensures that you have the most comfortable dental visit possible. When you visit our office, you will be given a small pill to help you relax throughout your entire dental appointment. While you are not technically asleep, patients often describe the experience as seeming sleep like. You'll barely remember coming to your appointment; the only proof that you'll have that you were there, will be your beautiful smile.
Through the entire process, you will be monitored by our specially trained team of professionals.
Is Sedation Dentistry right for me?
Sedation Dentistry is great for adult patients who:
Have TMJ (Temporomandibular Joint Disorder) and cannot open their mouth for extended periods
Have difficulty getting numb through "freezing"
Have extremely sensitive teeth
Are afraid of needles, drills and factors associated with dental care
Need multiple procedures done in one visit
Sedation Dentistry is only for adult patients. Some patients are not a good fit for sedation dentistry, and we will provide a screening consultation before we go ahead with this option.
How does Sedation Dentistry work?
Prior to your visit, you will need to take a small pill. The pill will make you drowsy, and therefore you will need to arrange for someone to drive you to your appointment. As soon as you arrive, you will be escorted to a very comfortable chair. When you are snoozing comfortably, we will begin your dental care. When your procedure is completed, you will be able to leave with your companion. In many cases you won't even remember the procedure.
If you're interested in sleeping through that upcoming root canal, ask us before your next visit.
